The first volume was used as an accounts ledger by Meeks and Gummery, upholsterers etc of Warwick from 1829 to1832 and the second volume was used by Handley and Co, coal and lime merchants of Emscote from 1842 to1846. Both volumes were subsequently purchased by William Cardall, a coal merchant from Southam and list the names of clients. The second volume is used by William Cardall up to 1891and then from 1938 his grandson John Frederick Cardall uses the ledger for his business as a motor garage proprietor.
