DescriptionDeeds relating to properties in Ansley, Oldbury and Mancetter. Most are damaged by heat and water and have become brittle and illegible.

Ansley Hall and surrounding land was purchased from the Ludford family by The Ansley Hall Coal and Iron Company circa 1879. The Company was founded by William Garside Phillips of Oldbury, the great grandfather of Captain Mark Phillips, the first husband of Princess Anne.

The damage to these documents may have occurred on the night of 23 June 1942 when Oldbury Hall was badly damaged by a fire caused by incendiary devices dropped across the colliery banks.
