Description | Whilst this volume acted as a vestry minute book in that it records the election of churchwardens etc, it had a wider remit, detailing the nominations of magistrates, guardians of the poor, surveyors of the highway and constables, passing the accounts of the churchwardens and surveyors of the highways and recording the purchase of property. It also set the rate of payment for the catching of small birds and mammals considered as pests (magpies, crows, moles etc) and names the people appointed to catch them. The meetings were styled either as the 'Ratepayers', 'the Inhabitants' or the 'Owners of Property' and were held at the Waggon Load of Lime Inn. |
