This collection is possibly derived from Welchman & Spraggett, solicitors, Southam (1847), E & RF Welchman (1853), or their successors, judged from endorsements; it includes a partnership deed for Welchman & Spraggett and some Welchman family documents.
The collection had passed through at least one auctioneer's hands and was being dispersed piecemeal on E-bay when acquired. As the collection is clearly incomplete and has lost any original order, it has been rearranged primarily by place, but bringing together any clearly related groups of documents. Two documents acquired independently but derived from the same source (CR3904) are included within the sequence.
Documents also from the same source (and possibly other sources) were acquired in 2004-5 by a private individual and have been listed summarily; they are referred to below when they appear to relate directly to the present collection. |
