The next batch of deeds carry us down to the end of the reign of Henry VII. They show a link between London and Coventry families, which is a marked feature of these deeds. Probably Tho. Wode (DR0429/57), of London, was a relative of Ric. Wode, from whose house Queen Margaret in 1457 saw the pageants played. Wyldgrece is also a Coventry name. No. 59 gives an early instance of what I believe is a personal signature. The name of the parish clerk (of Trinity, I suppose) occurs in DR0429/58. There are several technical terms in these deeds. A statute-merchant (DR0429/57) was a bond to which traders and others had recourse to ensure payment of money or debts. I have never seen the trade of "honeyman" (DR0429/59) mentioned, nor does it occur in that mine of information, the New English Dictionary.
