DescriptionCorrespondence with the Ecclesiastical Commissioners, Queen Anne's Bounty, surveyors and various solicitors etc. re the sale of parts of Lillington glebe land and the resultant mergers of tithe rent charge on the plots.
Sales involved, in roughly chronological order, as they appear in the correspondence
a) Conveyance to A.M. Lodge of 4½ acres of land at the West end of the field in front of the church and vicarage with an agreement for Lodge to build a house and gardener's cottage on the North side bounding Church Lane and covenant not to erect any buildings on the remainder of the land.
b) Agreement for a lease from year to year of pasture field (3 acs. 3r. 29p) abutting on Lillington Road and Cubbington Road, late in the occupation of Thomas Pratt, from Rev. J.A. Carter, vicar of Lillington, to Mr. W. Greenway of 3 North Villiers Street, Leamington Spa. Rent - £37 p.a., 2 Dec 1927. References to the sale of the same plot to A.M. Lodge are included in the correspondence.
c) Proposed joint purchase by Mr. Bailey and Messrs. B. Bailey, Son & Dickens of the whole frontage of glebe land on Lillington Road to a depth of 200 ft. - negotiations fell through on account of the ill-health of Mr. Bailey.
d) Conveyance to Rev. T. Stokes of a plot of glebe land adjoining the Police Station with a frontage of 60-70 ft. and a depth of 200 ft. (3a 0r. 24p.), previously rented by Mr. Greenway, for the erection of 2 houses with restrictive covenants re house frontages and mineral rights.
e) Conveyance to Messrs. Lewis & Watters of a plot of glebe land fronting Cubbington Road (adjoining land in (d)) with a frontage of 180 ft. comprising 6 plots, each of 30 ft. frontage, with an average depth of 185 ft., previously rented by Mr. Greenway.
f) References to the sale of a further strip fronting Cubbington Road, adjoining land in (e), to Mr. E.R. Knight.
g) Conveyance to Mr. A.M. Lodge of glebe land at the rear of building plots in (d)-(f), on which Mr. Greenway's cowsheds are erected, c. 1½ acs.
