George Abbott of Caldecote, gent., bequeathed in 1647 £5 p.a. to augment income of incumbent and, from revenue of lands at Baddesley, gave £4.10s p.a. for salary at free school to teach poor boys and girls of area to read and learn catechism (and similarly at Caldecote), with 10s. to buy books and catechism. The schoolmaster ceased teaching in 1824; income was later used for Sunday School.
