TitleThe enlargement of the church: the memorial of the inhabitants of Leamington Priors in vestry assembled to the Bishop of Worcester stating the parishioners' alarm over the mounting cost of the completion of the parish church which was chiefly consequent upon the extra works commenced (and still remaining unfinished) by the vicar, the Rev. John Craig, without any faculty or other legal authority.
Date1853
DescriptionAs the vicar had omitted to render any account of the monies received by him in aid of the church, the Bishop was requested to require him to do so in accordance with a vestry resolution of 18th August 1853 and to complete the church in accordance with the faculty set forth in the memorial or to indemnify the church against future expenses in its final completion in accordance with the faculty. It was also urged that the completion of the church should from henceforth be under the churchwarden's control to the entire exclusion of the vicar, and that certain other measures should be taken against the vicar.
