| AdminHistory | Bequests for schooling: in 1706 John Pittway left revenue of property for instruction, books and clothing of 6 poor boys; supplemented in 1789 by £60 left by Rev. Thos. Jones. These two combined in 1910; revenue put to Sunday schools, apprenticeship and school fees. In 1747 George Marshall left revenue to found free school for 12 poor boys (from 1886, 6 nominated by Pittway's trustees), and one for 12 poor girls.
For bread, coal and clothing: under Pittway's will, rents of property (also let to poor) for clothing and bread for poor; in 1555 Wm. Willington left revenue from rents as cash for poor. George Marshall also left income for poor (these 2 latter distributed together as meat every 3 years). In 1719 Sarah Halford of Willersey, Glos., left revenue for clothing and cash for 4 poor widows, in 1729 William Hobbins left bequest for clothing 4 poor men. Clothing was given out jointly from bequests in 1811-26 of Thos. Hodgkins, Thos. Sabin and Wm. Horniblow. |
