| Description | John Hancock, whose accounts make up most of the family papers, died 4 JUly 1831, and maintained accounts of properties at Mickleton (Gloucestershire) and Stratford-on-Avon. John Hancock of Stratford Heath, farmer, is listed in West's 1830 directory for Warwickshire. His widow whose accounts survive for 1831-1835, is probably the widow Mary Hancock, whose estate was being settled in about 1845 (CR224/8).
The first Hancock known to be practising as a solicitor in Shipston was Frederick, listed in White's directory of 1850. |
