TitleTradesmen's accounts
Date1788-1894
DescriptionIt is not known for certain how these records came to be amongst the Hancock archives. However, in the case of the records of Thomas Snow of Shipston (CR 224/26), it is probable that the accounts passed to J. H. Clark, who was a practising solicitor in Shipston at the time of Snow's bankruptcy in 1826. It is known from Clark's diaries that he was one of the commissioners in Snow's bankruptcy hearing in October that year. The identities of the tradesmen have been verified from internal evidence in the accounts and from other sources such as directories.
