| Description | A native of Nuneaton, Mr. George White was appointed manager of the Scala – then known as the Grand Scala – when it was opened on February 26, 1915. It was re-opened as the Scala Theatre in May of the same year. At this time Mr. White saw war service in East Africa and during the three years he was away, Mrs. White was responsible for the management of the Scala. Mr. White remained manager up to the time of his death – on November 2, 1948, at the age of 61. His home was in [address removed] |
