DescriptionThomas Hawkins alias Fisher was a servant of John Dudley, Duke of Northumberland, and through his influence and that of the Duke of Suffolk, he obtained the sites of many religious houses following the dissolution of the monasteries, including the Priory at Warwick in 1546 by letters patent of 1546 (reference CR 26/1/2/3). He died in 1576, leaving his estate to his eldest son Edward, who was convicted of the forgery of title deeds and sentenced to imprisonment in the Tower, where he died in 1586.
