Date30 Jan 1834
DescriptionWritten from Tattingstone, Suffolk, to the British Embassy, Constantinople.
Receipt of two letters: removal of anxiety about his health: her disposition to look on the bright side, balanced by that of her husband: prayer for God to watch over his brother: leaving for 9 Norfolk Street to stay for two weeks, meeting up with the Gooches (then at Hastings), with husband John then going back to Camerton and on to Sussex to see friends, before both going to Froyle: miniature portrait to be paid for him, liable to be up to 25 guineas: Ernest at Hastings, whom she missed in town andabout whom she would not have laughed, not thinking to blame him if he were to fall in love with Miss Wise, from what she had heard of the family: shock at his talking of taking leave 12 months after spring and returning to England for only a few months: John and Driver being well: welcome arrival of his dogs: her having been poorly, but now well following doctor's prescription of porter, liable to make her vulgar and fat: charmed at his sentiments and cheerfulness of his last letter: God's blessing on him.
