His likely surprise at her not being in London: receipt of letter from Stephen Jarrett saying John had suddenly fallen ill: his swift recovery and restoration within two days before her arrival at Camerton: his having being made to laugh at dinner by his brother and choking violently, occasioning a rush of blood to the head and his falling to the ground: his being bled the next morning, because of inflammation: future change of diet, medicine and way of living, with his awareness of the need to be prudent and abstemious, the event being a possible blessing in disguise: trust in and gratitude to God for preservation of his life: result of trial at Taunton with 3 men transported for life, the evidence being clear: remaining at Camerton until the 21st and then on to Froyle for christening: hectic journey, with Bevan ill, in hurricane and torrential rain: future plans to stay at Norfolk Street for 6 weeks: no news of carpet, but glad of dressing case arriving: her not drinking porter: Ernest in good health and spirits, looking for someone to spend his extra £100pa: living at Camerton in old house in dispute with rats for possession.
