TitleLetter from Anna Eliza Jarrett to her brother Thomas Wathen Waller
Date30 Apr 1834
DescriptionWritten from Froyle Parsonage, to the British Embassy, Constantinople.
Anna: family party, with arrival of Ernest and uncle Joseph: Georgie and Sainsbury family well, including Thomas Ernest, now christened: husband in excellent health, continuing prudent habits: thanks for carpet, safely arrived in London: his disappointment at his new appointment and the barren scenery, the opposite of expectations raised by Mr Mandeville: her regret at the length of time before she can see him again: her being in London until the end of June, including for music festival at Westminster: uncle Joseph sending his love and thinking of writing to him (after two years): unlikelihood of her being unable to send home-made preserves that year, but possibly West Indian preserves instead: Ernest well, leading a useful life at Tachbrook: hope of being able to sit for miniature, even if expensive. GLS: congratulations on his new appointment, getting him on in his profession, if not quite what he would have chosen: his God-daughter, aged 18 months, only able to say Mama and Papa: John never looking so well, his attack hopefully a providential warning: Ernest happy in a home of his own, hopefully to find a good wife as well.
