Glad to be back in the country, having been a long time in London, with first influenza then her husband's illness: due to return to London for a few days to see Dr Warren: Camerton still not dry enough for them: future trips to Clifton, then into Devon and Monmouthshire: husband better, with no return of symptoms, strict discipline and grown thinner: uncle Joseph, Stephen and aunt Stephens (in Clifton) all well: pleasure for him to have a flattering letter from his new chief: sweetmeats sent or being sent: choice of type of account book for him: yesterday being 11th wedding anniversary and hope to congratulate Wathen on his own wedding day one day: Ernest's shyness and lack of courage to tell Louisa Wise how attached he is to her, and his pains not to show too much favour of her over her sisters: GG and Sainsbury family all well: her gratification at the music festival at Westminster Abbey: engagement to visit the Dean of Hereford at the Hereford music meeting: having to burn his last letter, with his father's asking to see it and passing comments on the unsuitability of temperaments of father and son.
