Writing in hope of letter arriving shortly from him, but not uneasy at the delay: account of father getting relief from pain in the face by holding brandy and water in his mouth: news of establishing steam packets going to Athens in 18 days and the possiblity of a family trip there to see him: her husband in good health, out hunting once, with prospect of his hunting again tomorrow and even of their going to a ball in Bath: nothing new to relate, with the house finished and Mrs Brooke her only visitor: promise of father to visit, having not done so since the work on the house started: the Sainsburys being in Brighton, but sick with influenza: prettiness of their god-daughter: hopes for the best, with things in the West Indies quiet: the Reptons being in town, with fears for their boy, with a severe cough, growing fat and being delicate: her being unable to send cheeses: John not going to Stockbridge in Easter, but their both going to Froyle in the summer and then on to London.
