TitleLetter from Anna Eliza Jarrett to her brother Thomas Wathen Waller
Date27 Sep 1835
DescriptionWritten from Camerton, to the British Legation, Athens.
Thanks for two letters, which strengthened her desire for him to leave "that horrid pestilential hole" after 3 attacks of fever: his having enough to marry and live comfortably, without following a profession which she believes he hates and despises: her wishes for him not to be separated from his family and to return to England and have a wife and children: Lady Howe and father well: no news of his having spoken to the King: large party there, with the Barnards and Mr and Mrs Herbert Jarrett (she very silent): her own husband being well, but in a state of irritability after two attacks of fever: start of work on conservatory: safe arrival of cheese: the ha-ha filled up, but trees still there: Driver having deserted John but attached to Spare, looking well and sleek: all well at Froyle: Ernest and Louisa happy and well, both beloved by their parishioners: compensation for estates not expected until next year: no sport for John.
Two sheets, with 8 pages of text. Numbered "44".
