TitlePrickett Records
DescriptionRecords of the firm of William Ward Prickett, High Street, Alcester, solicitor, and of predecessor firms and individuals. The earliest records relate to Edward Prickett (junior), attorney of Thame in Buckinghamshire (with a few documents apparently from his predecessors). He married Macaraiah Weale, daughter of George Weale of Warwick and then moved to Birmingham, and later to Warwick. His son, W W Prickett, set up as a solicitor in Alcester in the early 1810s, and succeeded to his father’s papers, presumably at the latter’s death. Prickett’s business was then taken over by Hobbes and Slatter (presumably at some point after Prickett’s death in September 1854). The Prickett correspondence files are particularly extensive, possibly complete from 1818 until the 1860s.
