TitleCalendars of prisoners held in the gaols and houses of correction (by gaol and houses of correction)
DescriptionSeparate calendars of prisoners held in the gaol and house of correction were drawn up for each of the Sessions. They contain names, offence (but often only given in general terms, such as felony or misdemeanor, when our entry is noted as verdicts only), and verdict. There are both fair copies and drafts, which have been noted. Orders for transportation are listed after the draft calendars. The Judge is named in Epiphany 1809, and then regularly from Michaelmas 1816.
From Epiphany 1823 there are printed fair copies which give details of offences and verdicts, a list of those remaining in custody in the house of correction, and an alphabetical index for the gaol calendar and house of correction calendar. From 1846 there are separate calendars of prisoners for Coventry.
Missing years: 1842-1846, and Epiphany 1841, Michaelmas 1849, Epiphany 1851 (Warks), Michaelmas 1851 and Epiphany 1863.
