DescriptionSome of the deeds also concern a messuage, homestall and half a yardland in the open fields of Napton, 1/4 yardland called Nicholls his Quartern, 1/4 yardland and four odd lands, the 1/4 yardland being known as Grandfathers Quartern; this land was at the time of enclosure exchanged for land of 1A 39P and of 29A 3R 13P in the Upper Field. A deed of 1700 also refers to property in Priors Martson, namely a messuage, 2 cottages and 3 closes called Hall End, Hill Yard and Barne, with 2 1/2 yardlands in the common fields. The land at Priors Hardwick is described as West Close and 1/2 yardland with Common of pasture and a messuage now or late of Richard Walford with the close belonging and 1/2 yardland in the common fields with common of pasture; some of the deeds only refer to 1/4 yardland which was exchanged for 10 1/2 acres in Further field on enclosure. The chief families concerned in the various transactions are the Walfords, Clarkes, Burdens, Trusloves, Tompkins and Westons: Edward Truslove sold the lands at Napton and close as Priors Hardwick to William Weston in 1795.
Bundle includes the marriage settlements of Thomas Burden and Mary Welford, 1718 and of Edward Truslove and Hannah Clarke in 1741.
