AdminHistoryThe items in this collection reflect a particular branch of the Tritton family, the records being passed and amassed through several generations encompassing the Devas, Sedgwick, Tritton and Verney families.

Catherine Marden Devas nee Nolan married Michael Bertrand Devas in 1949. Michael's mother was Vivien Lucy Sedgwick (1890-1971).

Vivien's father was Revd Canon Gordon Sedgwick (1840-1921), who was curate at Holy Trinity, Coventry between 1866 and 1870. He became Vicar of Sherbourne, Warwickshire in 1898. Vivien's numerous siblings included the Revd Ronald Sedgwick (1881-1959) and Violet Margaret Sedgwick (1888-1968).

Violet Sedgwick married Oswald Tritton (1875-1963) in 1914 but the couple did not have any children. Oswald became a Major in the Royal Artillery. Oswald and Violet lived at Rose Cottage and later Capers in Barford, Warwickshire. After Oswald's death in 1963, Violet moved to Stamford House in Chipping Campden until her own death five years later.

Oswald's siblings included a brother John Tritton (1880-1905) and a sister Claude ('Claudie') Tritton, who was born in 1881. Their parents were Edward William Tritton (1844-1902) and the Hon. Alice Jane Verney (1849-1882), the daughter of Robert John, 17th Lord Willoughby de Broke (1809-1862) and Georgiana Jane Taylor (d.1889).

Alice's sister Susan Emma Verney (1852-1941) married Edmund Temple Godman (d.1894) of Banks Fee, Gloucestershire in 1885: they had a son, John Godman (b.1886). Alice's brothers included Henry Verney (1844-1902), who became 18th Lord Willoughby de Brooke and Revd Walter Robert Verney (1846-1912), Rector of Lighthorne and Vicar of Chesterton, Warwickshire.
