Description | Relating to various alterations and additions to the church, the most far reaching of which is probably that of 1864 for taking down the galleries, replacing the square pews with open sittings, enlarging the north and south transepts, building a new chancel arch and enlarging the south side of the chancel, repairing the roof and flooring, removing the east window to the south transept and replacing the same, and making a new vestry in the north transept. Other faculties concern the replacement of the organ in 1902, the erection of a screen at the west end in 1911, improved vestry accommodation, 1950, memorial tablets, etc. Bundle also includes extract from will of Mrs. Harriet Hamilton (1866) granting the reversion of a sum of money for an oak reredos and a painted east window, 1896 |
