Bint, churchwardens, under the `Act for affording further facilities for the Conveyance and Endowment of Sites for Schools', of a piece or parcel of land in the parish of Meriden containing 2,420 sq. yds. and bounded on the N by the London and Birmingham Turnpike Road, on the E by the Parish Church and glebe lands and on the S and W by other lands of the Earl of Aylesford, part of which piece of land was formerly the site of the old school house and the other of which part was late in the occupation of J.V. Walker (with marginal plan). To be held for the purposes of the Act and to be applied "as a site for a school for poor persons of and in the parish of Meriden and for the residence of the Schoolmaster or Schoolmistress" and to be always in union with the National Society for Promoting the Education of the Poor in the Principles of the Established Church. 22 Nov 1843. Endorsed with a memorandum that 46 sq. yds. of the land fronting the Birmingham - Coventry Road were dedicated by the Managers of the National School to the W.C.C. for road widening purposes, 29 May 1926(DR0261/113/1); affidavit by Richard Spencer (clerk to Messrs. Jones, Bateman and Bennett of Lincolns Inn, solicitors) of his witnessing the execution of the deed at the Enrolment Office Chancery Lane, 11 Dec 1843(DR0261/113/2). |
