DescriptionCounterpart indentures of lease by Sir Henry Puckering alias Newton of the Priory in or near the borough of Warwick, baronet, to Elizabeth Newberry of Lillington, widow, of a messuage, 2 barns, stable, garden, yard and orchard, with a close near the orchard (half an acre), a close called Townsend Close (1 acres 25 perches) adjoining the highway from Leamington Priors to Coventry, one and three quarters yardlands (c63 acres) of arable land etc, the messuage, lands, etc being in the occupation of Elizabeth Newberry and reputed to have been been occupied by her grandfather Humfrey Nichols and then her father Thomas Nichols, a close near the Common Pound (2 roods 26 perches), a close called Orton (1 acre 3 roods 35 perches) and a close called the Paddock (21 perches), the last three closes being previously occupied by Richard Hewit and reputed to have been occupied by Humfrey Hewit, all in Lillington (with reservations to Sir Henry, further described), to be held from 25 March next for a term of 21 years, at the annual rent of £19 17s 6d, with an additional 5 shillings for each rood ploughed of land which had not been ploughed "within the Memory of Man".
