Description | Copy of the petition of Henry Wise of Brompton Park, Middlesex, "Master Gardener of all his Ma'ties Gardens", to Henry Bowes, Earl of Berkshire, deputy to the Duke of Norfolk, Earl Marshal, appying for a grant of arms, said to have been those of the Wise family of Oxfordshire and used by his grandfather, Richard Wise (died in 1698, aged 112). Copy made on paper watermarked 1834 and examined with record in the College of Arms, 30 Oct 1835. [Henry Bowes was appointed Deputy Earl Marshal in 1707.] |
