Date17 Oct 1838
DescriptionWritten to Sir W Waller, via Rev EA Waller, Tachbrook, Leamington.
Receipt of welcome letter with the news of the birth of a second grandson at Brussels and the safety of the mother, with hope of the improvement in strength of the infant: praise of his dutiful children, with their respectable way of life and conduct, which is the just reward for his years of anxiety during their infancy: report on examination of her eye by Mr Heale, with its improved appearance and diminution of a vessel, meaning encouragement for Alexander to persevere , but with his later observation about a small piece of cataract left in there impeding her sight, but which could be easily removed when there is more of it, increasing hopes of greater succese in the restoration of her sight: arrival of the Duchess of Gloucester, looking well but fidgety and catching herself as if in pain.
