TitleLetter from CE Watson to Mr Gleig
Date3 Dec 1855
DescriptionWritten from Camp Sebastopol
In response to his enquiries concerning Waller, his having sought his acquaintance more than he would have done: his findinga good lad, thoroughly at home in camp life, now an adjutant, and given his youth and inexperience, getting on very well, very popular with his comrades (a great advantage if not carried on to a too great extent): the appearance of his having been carefully brough up, with his pleasure at meeting him twice at communion, with his heart in the right place: his willingness to do such service for him as he can, in spite of their difference in ages being a slight bar to intimacy: his own managing to make his way through the Crimean mud, in spite of his foot causing annoyance: request for him to send them a chaplain, the brigade not having had one for 3 months and their needing for one in spite of the zeal of Mr Wallace, the chaplain of the 2nd Brigade, especially as they are opening a school.
