TitleLetter from Charles W Willis, Lieutenant, 33rd Regiment, to George Henry Waller
Date2 Nov 1856
DescriptionWritten from the Royal Barracks, Dublin, addressed to Waller, the context making it clear that it is George.
His remembering the occasion, but not the date (which he could have checked in his journal at home), of a piece of action: their being in the old advance, the 3rd parallel, in daytime, with very little shelter: the Russiand having a riflepit close and carrying off a quantity of gabions, but being pinned down in one of the allied saps: the call for volunteers to drive the Russians out of the sap, with George volunteering and leading his men against them: his not knowing what happened after that, being called away to his own men: his willingness to allow his testimony to be used on George's behalf.
Sheet, with 4 pages of text.
