DescriptionTo enforce the King's Proclamations against seditions and libels, pledging "to oppose and bring to Justice all such persons as by Words or Actions shall aim at the disturbance of the publick peace and the overthrow of the present Government" and to become a Society for these purposes aiding the civil Magistrate in the Suppression of all Riots and Tumults" and naming a Committee for the purpose of this Association. Signed by 1,553 inhabitants (giving occupations) of Rugby and its neighbouring parishes (and hamlets) including Brandon, Brinklow, Brownsover, Church Lawford, Churchover, Clifton, Cosford, Dunchurch, Easenhall, Frankton, Grandborough, Harborough Magna, Hillmorton, King's Newnham, Leamington Hastings, Long and Little Lawford, Marton, Monks Kirby, Newbold-on-Avon, Newton and Biggin, Pailton, Ryton, Stretton on Dunsmore, Thurlaston, Warwick, Wolfhampcote and Wolston in Warwickshire (and contiguous parishes in Leics. and Northants.).
