TitleDeed of covenant for the payment of a fee farm rent relating to Brailes Hill Farm, cottages and farm buildings in Upper Brailes
Date12 Aug 1869
DescriptionBetween Henry James Sheldon of Brailes House, esquire and John Baker of Brailes, farmer. Henry Sheldon put properties up for sale by public auction of 1 July 1868 (as several lots), and one of the conditions of sale was that the purchaser of Lots 3 and 21 would own the property but would be subject to a farm rent of £42 2s in total for lot 3, and £29 for lot 21, which was the remainder of the farm rent. Lot 21 was unsold but John Baker purchased the properties that were lots 2, 3 and 8, being a farm house with outbuildings and yards, several closes of pasture land and plantation lying near the farm house, containing 77 acres 3 roods 25 perches, which were occupied by William Baldwin, then by Edmund Baldwin and now by Henry Harris; also a close of pasture land containing 3 acres 2 rods 19 perches, formerly occupied by John Gillett and now by John Cawley; all of which are in Upper Brailes. The purpose of this indenture is to confirm that Henry Sheldon is responsible for the payment of the £29 farm rent for lot 21, since the property remains unsold., and that John Baker will not be liable for it.
