John and Urquhart Cawley owned the property in fee simple, subject to the payment of an annuity of £150 to Emma Burney of Brailes, spinster for the duration of her life. Urquhart Cawley owned half of the total estate left to him and John Cawley and held it in trust for John Cawley (who owned the other half) to sell. To free the estate from the annuity, John and Urquhart Cawley purchased, from the Commissioners for the Reduction of National Debt, in the name of Emma Gurney, an annuity of £150 which was payable to her and secured by a grant of the Commissioners. In this present deed, John and Urquhart Cawley convey to William and Arthur Holtom a farm house, garden, cottage, barns, farm buildings and land (including the water rents), being Brailes Hill Farm, execept the woodlands occupied by Richard Wakeham as tenant; also three cottages, gardens and land at the top of Upper Brailes village, occupied by W.
