DescriptionIncludes brief mentions of war time preparations, such as insurance and sandbagging, 1940-1943.
In 1946 a proposal was put forward that a sixth bell commissioned for the church should be named the 'peace bell' and the names of parishioners fallen in the war (1939-1945) should be engraved upon it, so becoming the war memorial in the village. The inscription would be as follows: 'Dedicated to the fallen of Clifford Chambers, 1939-1945. Kenneth Patrick English, Frederick Charles Pinfold, John Spencer Salmon, John Douglas Mole. On the other side: Peace, 1945, [followed by an engraving of a cross] 'Peace I leave with you. My Peace I Give unto You.'
In 1947 the PCC was notified that the BBC were interested in broadcasting an evening service from the church, which seems to have taken place the following year.
In 1951, due to financial pressures on the church, the PCC decided to uphold a resolution not to continue to supply 'selected parishioners' with free milk, although to continue its provision to 'needy cases of sickness and infirmity'.
During 1954 the PCC was required to consider whether Clifford School should remain an 'aided school' or be handed over to the Local Authority Education Board, and whether Clifford Chambers parish should transfer from the diocese of Gloucester to that of Coventry.
