Description | Articles of agreement between Walter Chetwynd of Rugeley (Staffs.), and John England of Aldermill in Tamworth, millwright, and William Palmer of Lichfield, cheesefactor, "that a coale work or works shall bee sett on foot in Dordon coalworks lyeing in the parish of Polesworth." England and Palmer are to drive a sough with 3 or 4 substantial workmen until the seven foot bed of coal is reached. Chetwynd undertakes to obtain leave from George Biddulph for the sough to pass through his land. England and Palmer are to get 5 acres of the seven foot bed of coal with 3 years of sinking the first pit, and after that 3 acres yearly for as long as they hold the workings, at a rate of £120. per acre, with other detailed covenants for operating the works. |
