VIII [1522]. Endorsed, in English: The Feoffees shall hold the tenement and the rent shall every year be put into a new box which is to remain in the church in the custody of the churchwardens. The money shall be used to pay the king's tax on the parish, and if there is not a sufficient sum in the box to pay the tax the residue of the tax shall be levied against the parish rate and where any household pays at Easter 2d they shall pay but 1d: if the rent shall be more than the tax then the residue shall be occupied to the best profit of the Parish by the oversight of the feoffees. |
