| Description | Hibbert did not, it seems, consult the churchwardens or parishioners about the work and died before the debt was settled. Consequently Hunter made various applications after 1876 to Hibbert's executors and the vicar and churchwardens to defray the debt. They denied responsibility and in 1882, at a vestry meeting, it was decided to lay the facts before the bishop (DR0291/30/1-2); correspondence from Hunter's solicitor H.T.
