Description | Indentures of lease and release between William Agar of Lincolns Inn, Middlesex, esquire, one of Her Majesty's counsel, John Gustavus Lemaistre late of Upper Seymour Street, Portman Square, Middlesex, but then of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, esquire (trustees of the will of Matthew Blackett Wise), of the 1st part, Reverend John Thomas Parker of Newbold upon Avon and Kelynge Greenway of the borough of Warwick, esquire (trustees of an Act of Parliament), of the 2nd part, Henry Wise of Offchurch, clerk and Henry Christopher Wise and Harriett his wife, of the 3rd part, and Thomas George Skipwith of Newbold Hall, esquire, and Glynee Earle Welby of Denton Hall, Lincolnshire, esquire, of the 4th part, of the manor and rectory of Lillington, the advowson of the churches of Lillington and Leamington Priors, Red House Farm with accompanying lands containing 298 acres 2 rood 29 perches, two other messuages with lands containing 181 acres 1 rood 38 perches and 161 acres 1 rood 5 perches, and one other messuage in Lillington, piece of woodland called Barn Wood in Leamington Priors, and the northernmost part of a close of land called the Teas or Deans Pool Meadow containing 3 acres 3 roods 2 perches, with ditch, in the parish of St Nicholas, Warwick. There are several recitals, including the last will of Matthew Blackett Wise of the Priory, Warwick, various indentures relating to transactions involving parts of his trust estate, an Act of Parliament of 5 Will IV authorising sales, grants, etc for an estate devised by the will of Matthew Wise, the growth of Leamington Priors and its significance as place for public resort with its mineral waters and the subsequent demand for land and buildings, the death of Mary Nutcombe on 25 May 1836, and the continued vesting of the legal estate of Matthew Wise in Parker and Greenway. At the request of the Wises, following payments of 10 shillings to Agar and Lemaistre and to Parker and Greenway, the estate is conveyed in trust to Skipwith and Welby. There are two schedules, the First Schedule (on sheet 8) being of lands recited in the Act of Parliament relating to the devised estate of Matthew Wise, in tabulated form, the Second Schedule (on sheets 9-10) being summaries of 5 agreements or contracts for the digging of clay and making of bricks.
