DescriptionIndenture of lease for a year [release missing] by Henry Wise of Hampton Court, Middlesex, esquire, and Henry Christopher Wise, his only son by Mary his late wife, formerly Mary Tilson, to Joseph Newton of Aldermanbury, London, gent, of two fifth parts of the manor of Moreton Morrell, the capital messuage called the Manor House and several closes of lands [further named] containing 284 acres (in the tenure of Robert Watts at the annual rent of £130), Warren Farm with its house and several closes of land [further named] containing 300 acres (in the tenure of William Watts, £75pa) at Moreton Morrell, and a messuage and garden containing 6 acres in the parish of St John Evangelist, Westminster near adjoining called the Slip containing 1 acre, in the parish of St George Hanover Square (in the tenure of Joseph Gant Gardiner, £38pa), a meadow containing 4 acres in the parish of St John Evangelist (in the tenure of William Mears, £20pa), a meadow called the Slip containing 2 acres with wharf adjoining the River Thames (in the tenure of William Cowley and William Harrison, £10pa), and a messuage, 5 acres of garden and a meadow containing 2 acres called the Upper Meadow (in the tenure of Joseph Gant Gardiner, £25pa) in the parish of St George Hanover Square, Middlesex, to the uses of a release and settlement intended to be made the next day between Henry Wise and Henry Christoper Wise, of the 1st part, Samuel Wathen of London, doctor, and Mary his only child by his former wife Mary, late daughter of Thomas Scott, citizen and sadler of London, deceased, of the 2nd part, Joseph Newton, of the 3rd part, John Dell of Chingford, Essex, yoeman, James Mount of London, gent, and John Wathen, citizen and haberdasher of London, of the 4th part and Sir Edward Blackett of Matfen, Northumberland, baronet, and George Eckersall of Lincoln Inn Fields, Middlesex, esquire, of the 5th part.
