DescriptionIndenture of mortgage to secure £2000 and interest by Sir William Throckmorton of Charlewood, Surrey, knight, Knight Marshall of His Majesty's Household, Sir William Throckmorton his son and heir apparent, and Elizabeth Bradshaw of the parish of St Mary le Savoy in the Strand, Middlesex, widow, to Jeffery Howland of Streatham, Surrey, esquire, of a capital messuage called Charlewood Place with land (300 acres), other closes of lands (40 and a half acres) and a farm (2 acres) in Charlewood, a capital messuage called Horsehills with land (80 acres), a messuage called Graces with land (45 acres) and a coppice wood called Rowgarden Coppice (12 acres) in Horley, and a barn called Wovers Barne with land (60 acres), several closes of land (45 acres) and a messuage called Carters Tenement and land (72 acres) in Charlewood and Horley, Surrey, and the advowson, glebe lands, tithes, etc of the parish church, parsonage and rectory of Charlewood, for a term of 500 years, with provision for payment of £2240 by 9 March 1668 [by modern calendar 1669].
