DescriptionIndenture of lease by Henry Scrope, knight, Lord Scrope of Bolton, Warden of the West Marches of England towards Scotland, Captain of the City of Carlisle, and Head Steward of the Liberties of Richmond and Richmondshire, and Lady Margaret his wife, to Thomas Foster the elder and George Whitwhame of Epperstone, yeomen, of the mansion house in Epperstone, Nottinghamshire, with the demesne lands, buildings, other lands, rights, etc (except for all woods and underwoods), with a water corn mill, a fulling mill, waters, a dam, an orchard and one acre of meadow, and of a tenement called Nether House with appurtenances (except for all woods and underwoods), to be held from the next feast of St Michael for a term of 23 years at the annual rents of £20 and of £40 for the last 23 years of the term, and for the performance of customary services, and to be held in the same manner as by Edward Donkin of the mansion house and by Thomas Foster of the mills and Nether House.
