TitleLetter from Princess Sophia to Sir Jonathan Wathen Waller
Date27 Oct 1836
DescriptionHer having thought much of him since news of the melancholy event at Penn on Tuesday evening, his suffering so soon after his joy at his son's happiness: the King being in much distress and most unlike himself, concerned at the blow it might have on the Queen's health and uneasy about her, also believing himself unfit for business in his state of mind: her hope of seeing him on Saturday: the loss of being of great importance, particularly to Lord Howe's children and the position of Lord Howe at court: Sir Wathen's rgeard for Lady Howe, and her own anxiety to see him and hear his opinions of the state of things at Windsor: hope of his health not having suffered: his kindness of having written: the King not having been in such a state since the loss of his child in 1829, not drinking or eating: her having seen Alexander yesterday, who found the vessles full and advised 4 leeches, which she put on that evening: progess in the eye, it being less difficult see than when painting her face on Tuesday.
27th October, no year given, but the context is the death of Lady Harriet-Georgiana Howe on 25 October 1836.
