On frontispiece is a bookplate of the coat of arms of Jonathan Wathen Phipps (later Waller). Loose inside is a portrait of Richard Brothers, head and shoulders in oval, published by B Crosby, Ludgate Street, 11 March 1795, with memorandum by JWP that he was confined in a mad house at Islington. On the the side of the paper the portrait is stuck to is a note by JW Waller that the book, with Mr Halhed's vindication, was given to him when he visited Brothers out of curiosity in February 1795 and that he had them bound together as proof of their folly to future time, 1816. |
