TitleLetter from Edward to Lady Howe
Date11 May 1812
DescriptionWritten from Kensington Palace.
His gratitude for her having thought of him for her party of 27 May, fresh proof of regard from a member of a family for which he has felt the strongest attachment from his earliest infancy: his excusing himself from attending, hoping not to give offence, his motives being his habits of retirement and the uniform rule of declining all invitations except on occasions of absolute duty: his taking leave of her, with expression of esteem and regard for her, always so kindly appreciative of his conduct and sympathetic in the many causes of disappointment he has had to encounter. Sheet, with 1¾ pages of text.
[Edward identified as the Duke of Kent by accompanying label, with Kensington Palace being the home for minor royalty at that time.]
