Getting off easy in the trenches with little to do: having seen Colonel Seymour at his camp: Mr Boudier introducing himself, doing duty with the 3rd Division:slow sapping from the Mamelon and Quarries to the Redan and Round Tower: enclosure of plan of the right attack on the Redan, with explanation of the markings, symbols and colours used to show features, including the trenches (who occupied them and when), the place in the Quarries where he was wounded in the arm, the position of the abattis [defensive obstruction, made out of the boughs of trees] and the range of Russian fire, with brief account of the attack: receipt of letter of the 28th, acknowledging receipt of his letter of 8 June and one from Mr Bracebridge at Constantinople.
