TitleLetter from Miss Margaret Wear to Lady Waller
Date24 Dec 1855
DescriptionWritten from the Monastery.
Report of her seeing George yesterday, having ridden over to the hospital, accompanied by a medical orderly, who resided near his hut: his looking well but not being yet recovered from his fall, still suffering with his eyesight, the left eye being much weaker, not being able to see objects at a distance, with his saying that, when he looks at the moon, he sees two moons: her proposal for him to go to the Monastery for a change and quiet, with the likely consent of Dr Hall, but his declining, preferring to remain with his regiment, where she understands he is a great favourite: his never having suffered any pain from the accident, with little memory of it, the drooping of his eyelid and her opinion on his appearing duller after the fall and less bright and full of spirits: her assurance of telling her exactly how he is.
