Receipt of two letters from parents of 5th and 12th: the Monastery being better than expected: kindness of Miss Weir [Wear] and her remembrances to them, having written 5 times not knowing whether the letters arrived: surprise at no mention of peace in their letters, with reports of proclamation of peace there, including by the Quarter Master General to the Commandant: sketching by him, a dozen to be sent: using trigomontry and surveying books sent out: being the only convalescent officer there: confusion over cooking stove, not needed because of the good mess there: hope of receing box from the "Harbinger", presently at Kamiesch: hope of passing next Christmas with them: Thomas writing that £65 was presented for payment at the start of November.
