Date27 Aug 1855
DescriptionWritten from the Embassy, Therapia.
Though not having the pleasure of personal acquaintance, her venturing to write in her husband's absence (who had been in correspondence with her husband about their son) in giving very recent intelligence about such a source of parental pride: Lord Richard Browne, his friend and brother officer, bringing their son to visit a few days ago but her not being at home: his calling again yesterday alone, and her pleasure in making his acquaintance and in his being in good health and cheerful spirits: his leave being extended to the end of the month: her wish for him to remain on the Bosphorous (which Lord Henry Browne believes would be readily acceded to by the doctors), but his determination to return to his post, which accords with everything said about their son, being a boy in years but having as much valour and spirit as the bravest of his elders: her never having heard so young a man so highly spoken of and admired: prayer for his safety.
