His letter being forwarded to him in Hastings, where he arrived last Saturday with Prince George of Cumberland, and being only able to answer by memory: details of the family history, including the arrival of the family in the reign of Henry II, the capture of the Duke of Orleans at Agincourt, and other branches of the family in Kent, Hampshire and Hertfordshire: having a pedigree among his papers at Pope's Villa, which he is happy for him to see there, although some other papers were lost in a fire.
