TitlePhotograph of Maxstoke Priory Ruins
Date1920s
DescriptionPhotograph by PB Chatwin. In 1936 Sir William de Clinton founded an Augustinian Priory here which was dedicated in 1342. The engraving shows the state of the ruins in 1729, and the photographs show what now remains. The building shown in the centre of the engraving is the Prior's lodging which is now used as a farmhouse. It contains an interesting heraldic ceiling which the tenant will show to visitors by appointment. File - Maxstoke]
